For several months now, the expert group on pediatric and adolescent medicine has been dealing with the issue of possible exceptions to the licensing of doctors in cases of undersupply.
This is due to increasing supply bottlenecks in pediatric and adolescent medicine and in the area of outpatient emergency care.
There are many reasons for the shortages.
Switzerland is not training enough doctors, the burden of disease has increased due to coronavirus and new migrants from Ukraine are coming to Switzerland who need treatment.
With the new admission restrictions that have been in place since January 1, 2022, the hurdles for doctors coming to Switzerland from abroad have been raised.
The Expert Commission on Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine has drawn up proposals for the attention of healthcare policy-makers on how the problem of undersupply can be solved through legislation.
On May 20, 2022, the Health Committee of the National Council adopted the parliamentary initiative “Exemptions from the three-year obligation to work in accordance with Art. 37 para. 1
KVG in the event of proven underuse” 22.431.
This was clearly adopted by 24 votes to zero.
The sister committee must approve the committee initiative before the KVG revision can be drafted.
