Parliament recognizes the special features of paediatric and adolescent medicine

In the 2020 autumn session, the National Council, as the second chamber, adopted three motions that are of great importance to pediatric and adolescent medicine.
Parliament thus instructed the Federal Council to draw up implementation proposals for the following motions:

  1. Motion by the Health Committee of the Council of States (SGK-SR): “Cost-covering financing of children’s hospitals for efficiently provided services”
  2. Motion by Councillor of States Damian Müller (FDP LU): “More time for the treatment of children and adolescents” (19.4120)
  3. Motion by Councillor of States Hans Stöckli (SP BE).
    Increasing drug safety in pediatrics.
    Reducing medication errors through e-health (19.4119)

The motions were adopted with a resounding majority.
The National Council passed the motion by Councillor of States Damian Müller by 193:0 and the motion by Councillor of States Hans Stöckli by 191:0 votes.
Köhler, Stüdeli und Partner GmbH has been mandated to lead the parliamentary group and the expert group on pediatric and adolescent medicine since 2018.
The parliamentary group is broadly composed: six members of the Council from six political parties have assumed the co-chairmanship.
The parliamentary group has a total of 40 members(list, page 64).
The 40 members of the Parliamentary Group on Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine have submitted numerous other proposals, some of which have not yet been dealt with by Parliament.
