Preventing a nursing crisis: SBK launches federal popular initiative

On January 17, 2017, the SBK-ASI nursing association launched the federal popular initiative “For strong nursing care (nursing care initiative)”.
The SBK feels compelled to take this path because it wants to fulfill its responsibility in terms of healthcare policy.
Politicians have failed to set the course to ensure that the increasing need for care is met.
A parliamentary initiative by former National Councillor Joder was rejected.
The one-sided focus on costs obscures the view of the real requirements.
One thing is clear: the need for care will increase and the costs will rise.
However, this is not the fault of care, but a consequence of the increasing age of the population, which is accompanied by chronic and multiple illnesses.
This is not a bad thing per se, as long as the quality of life is good.
The care initiative is needed for all people who will be dependent on qualified care in the future and the initiative is needed for all carers who need good training and fair compensation.
By launching the popular initiative, the SBK is enabling the people to decide on the care of the future.
