Sixteen months ago, Mark Balsiger and Walter Stüdeli set up the “Save the Käfigturm” committee.
We launched a petition that was signed by 5,454 people.
Now we can breathe a sigh of relief: the Polit-Forum has been saved!
The institution in the heart of Bern has a new sponsor.
The city and canton of Bern as well as the Burgergemeinde are involved in the “Polit-Forum Bern” association.
It is chaired by Mayor Alec von Graffenried.
We would like to thank the many committed people who made it possible to save the Käfigturm.
One drop of bitterness: Andreas Schilter and Michael Fritsche, who have been co-directors of the Polit-Forum for many years, will be changing careers.
They have been responsible for the quality of the “Käfigturm” since the end of the 1990s and have done so with care and passion.
It is a pity and incomprehensible that the federal government is stopping its payments and cutting back on political education, which is so important.
It is therefore all the more pleasing that a new sustainable solution for the future could now be found.
